Mukamar: Udupi Diocese-level Carol Singing Contest on Dec 16

Udupi, 13 Nov 2012: ICYM Mukamar, a youth group from St Theresa of the Child Jesus Church, Mukamar, Shirva deanery, Udupi Diocese has announced its inter-parish Christmas carol singing competition, to be held at St Theresa of the Child Jesus Church, Mukamar Church grounds, on December 16 at 3 pm. The competition will be held in Konkani this year and is expected to add joy to the Christmas season.

 

The competition is open to all the parishes of  Udupi diocese. A panel of professional judges from Mangalore and Udupi will judge the contest. The last date for registration is November 30.

 

The winner of the contest will receive a memento as well as cash rewards. The result will be announced and prizes will be distributed at the end of the event.

 

Winner will get a cash prize of Rs 5,555, runner-up Rs 3,333 and second runner-up Rs 2,222. There will be three consolation prizes of Rs 1,111.

 

Over 20 to 40 parish teams representing various parishes are expected to participate in the competition.

 

 

Mega preparations are underway by ICYM Mukamar for Christmas carols competition, a battle of singing talents for the enthusiasts. Over 400 adults and youths, 10 dignitaries and over 50 ICYM and parish volunteers will set the stage for this mega competition with over three independent judges judging this event. Hundreds of spectators are expected to arrive sporting colorful T- shirts supporting each of their parish teams.

 

President of the youth group Bonita Alphonso said, "The preparations are in full swing. This will be the first competition to be held at diocese level after the establishment of the Udupi diocese. The uniqueness of this contest is that there is no age limit. Anyone including a small child to the oldest person has a chance to participate in the competitions."

3) Last date to receive applications is November 30.

 

4) A panel of judges will judge the contest and their decision will be considered as final and binding.
