KCA Mysore celebrate Konkani Manyatha Divas

Mysore, 20 Aug 2012: Konkani Christian Association (R) Mysore Celebrated "Konkani Manyatha Divas" on August 12 to mark the inclusion of Konkani language on 20th August 1992 in 8th Schedule of Indian Constitution giving it the status of one of the official languages. The programme was inaugurated by the honourable and elegant gusts like Rev Fr Joe Tauro, Mr. Naveed Aslam Hagalwadi and Mrs. Leonila Crasto. Association President Gracian Rodrigues, Secretary John William DSouza and Treasurer Vincent Crasto were on the stage.
The highlight of the occasion was the felicitation function organized to honour the meritorious students of Mysore city. Top scorers of SSLC, PUC, Bachelor Degree & Master Degree were selected from among all the Konkani speaking communities belonging to different religions. Thus children of Navayath Muslims, Gowda saraswath and Christian were brought under one roof for the honours. Apart from them deserving poor students were given financial assistance for their further studies.
From Eight String The Konkani Youth Group Cultural programme consisting of folk songs and dances was an added attraction.
