Polio vaccine drops administered in Shirva and Udupi

Shirva, 20 February 2012: Polio vaccine drops administering jointly organized in Shirva by Community Health Centre and Shirva Rotary Club was inaugurated by Udupi Jilla Panchayath Member Ida Gibba D’Souza by administering the drops to a child. Shirva Grama Panchayath President Vanita Kamalaksha Shenoy, Community Centre Medical Officer Dr. Vasudeva Upadyaya, Rotary District Deputy Governor K.R. Patkar, Shirva Rotary President Ronald Sequeira, Health Assistants, Staff of Asha, Members of Rotary, Anganavadi staff and volunteers had participated.
The polio vaccine drops were administered in Bantakal, Padubelle, Madhwanagar, Pamboor, Shirva Health Centre, Bus Stop, Kutyaru, Paniyoor, Belapu, Mattaru, Padavu, Mutlupade, Kalathur Temple all together at 13 centers.
Udupi: 92% Children given polio drops in Udupi district

Udupi, 20 February 2012: In the polio vaccine administering program in the Udupi district on Sunday 92% target has been reached. Among the total children of 87,404 under 5 years of age in the district, on Sunday 80,307 have been administered with the drops. In Udupi Taluk out of 39,847 children 36,711 (92%) children have been administered with the drops. Similarly in Kundapura Taluk out of 31,658 children 28,910 (91%) and in Karkala Taluk out of 15,899 children 14,686 (92%) have been administered with polio vaccine drops.
On Sunday the drops were administered to the children in the booths. Today and tomorrow the volunteers will go to houses and will administer the drops. District Health and Family Welfare Officer has requested to the parents of the children for their cooperation.
