ICYM Pangla Parish organize Blood Donation Camp at Shankerpura

Udupi: 02 Feb 2025:  The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Pangla St, John the Evangelist Church organized Blood Donation Camp at the community Hall Shankerpura.  This is the first program of the Golden Jubilee celebration of Pangla ICYM unit.  ICYM Pangla has ear marked 12 programs for the year 2025 as part of their golden jubilee celebration.  The Blood Donation Camp organized in association with the Blood Bank, KMC Manipal.

 

The event began at 9.00am at the community hall with a short prayer hymn by ICYM members followed by stage program.  The President of ICYM, Jeevan Pereira accorded a warm welcome to the guests on dais namely, Rev. Dr. Anil Prakash Castelino, (Parish Priest), Dr. Mohammed Azeez (Senior Resident Doctor, Blood Bank, KMC Manipal), Rev. Fr. Rolwyn Fernandes (Assistant Parish Priest), Dr. Edward Lobo (Sponsor of the blood donation camp), John Martis (VP- Parish Council), Gabriel Martis (Secretary, Parish council), Joseph Castelino, Co-ordination 20 commissions}, Bro Rohan Mascarehnas, Deacon, Pangla Parish and Princia Noronha (ICYM Secretary).

 

Traditional lamp was lit by the guests present at the dais.

 

Also a large members of blood bank members were present to conduct the blood donation procedures.  On the occasion also present were Josita Mendonsa (President, ICYM Shirva Deanery), Lloyd Noronha (Vice President, ICYM Udupi Diocese), Freeda D’Souza (Joint Secretary, ICYM Shirva Deanery).

Dr. Mohammed Azeez and Dr. Edward Lobo highlighted the importance of blood donation and also benefits to the health of the donors.  Fr. Anil Prakash said that not only blood but yet times there is a need for donating organs for the benefit of many people in need of some organs.  He congratulated ICYM Pangla Unit and ICYM animator Anitha D’Souza for organizing this important blood donation camp.  He also thanked Dr. Azeez and the team from KMC for coming to Shankerpura as part of the blood donation camp.  He also appreciated ICYM Shirva deanery members and central unit members for attending the camp and his prayed for the success of the blood donation camp. 

 

A large number of Pangla Parishioners and ICYM members took part in the blood donation and a total of 35 units of blood was collected during the camp.

 

Princia Noronha proposed vote of thanks and Bernold Martis emceed the program.
