Bellevision Qatar Celebrate Easter 2010

Doha, 10 April 2010: Every nation and every culture have their own customs and traditions regarding festivity celebration. There is something unique about every place that sets it apart from others. Here in Doha members of Bellevision Qatar along with their families and friends celebrated Easter get together on Friday 09 April 2010 at the residence of Mr. Lawrence & Mrs. Therese Dalmeida the hosts of the day. Earlier everyone attended the Easter mass on Sunday 04 April at the Church of Our Lady of Rosary, Qatar. But since Sunday is the working day here in Qatar, the Easter get together was celebrated on Friday which is holiday, as per the convenience of everybody.

On Sunday the Holy Masses were conducted at the Church in English and also in other languages.  The mass was conducted in Konkani at 07.30 in the evening. Fr. Anand Castelino was the celebrant of the mass. The Konkani community (consists of Mangloreans and Goans) had organized the celebration at the Church. The altar was decorated. Konkani choir had made special preparations on the selected hymns for this occasion.

On Friday 09 April noon, everyone gathered to celebrate and enhance the Spirit of Easter. Mrs. Therese Dalmeida along with Mr. Anil Mathias, Mr. Avith Lobo, Mr. Lucas Castelino, Mr. Jerald D’Souza, Mr. John D’Souza, Mrs. Mable Martis, Mr. Denis D’Souza and Mr. Victor D’Souza had made all the necessary arrangements for the get together. The gathering comprising of people from Moodubelle and other neighboring parishes.

Among the guests were Fr. Anand Castelino, Asst. Parish Priest of Doha Parish and Mr. Ivan Menezes, Ex President of Bellevision UAE and Mr. Philip D’Souza & his family. Fr. Anand Castelino is from Pernal Parish of Mangalore Diocese. Mr. Ivan Menezes who had just arrived the same morning from UAE. Mr. Philip D’Souza is a well known personality in Doha as well as in Belle.

 

 

The function began with introduction of the guests followed by welcome by President Mrs. Therese Dalmeida. She commended the great efforts of active members in their staunch support in organizing this get together. Fr. Anand speaking on the occasion thanked Bellevision for organizing this event. He also suggested having such get together quite often so that people will know each other away from home.

Soft drinks and snacks were served as the celebration began. Joy of being in the company of fellow brothers and sisters was apparent and the feeling of having a home away from home surely visible on the faces of everyone. Games including housie were conducted and all had a wonderful time filled with the joy, fun and jokes, which was enjoyed by all. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the games.

Fr. Anand led the Grace, followed by the Mangalorean style lunch consisting of several main and side dishes. Everyone relished the taste of the authentic home made food. The formal get together was concluded with Vote of Thanks proposed by Cultural Secretary Mr. Avith Lobo, who thanked each and everyone for making this event a memorable one.
