Kuwait: Abbasiya Families Celebrated Monthi Fest

Kuwait, 26 September 2011: Abbasiya Families celebrated the feast of Nativity of Mother Mary with great religious fervor at Integrated Indian School premises, Abbasiya on Friday 9th September 2011.
The celebrations began at 7pm with welcome by Rony Fernandes seeking Mother Mary’s blessings through her son Jesus.
The new grain which was specially flown in from Mangalore for this occasion was blessed by Fr. Noel Almeida, Assistant Parish Priest of Our Lady of Arabia Church, Ahmadi, Then it was time for the little children to show their love and affection to Infant Mary by showering with flowers. Everyone gathered and joined the melodious choir to sing ’Sokkodd Sangata Mellyam’ and ’Moriyek Hogollsiam’.
Fr. Andrew and visiting priest Fr. Thomas Serrao offeferd the festive mass along with Fr. Noel.
A small felicitation ceremony was held after the mass. Bishop Camillo Ballin delivered the festive message and honored Priests, Sister’s of Carmel school, sponsors, gurkars and the people who worked for the success of the program with flowers. An appeal was given to bishop requesting a Konkani speaking priest for Abbassiya parish which was taken positively by the Bishop.
To add on to the spirit and enthusiasm of the occasion, the cultural fiesta kept the audience entertained with a Spiritual Tableau, some foot tapping dances and melodious songs all performed by the talented parishioners.
Traditional delicious vegetarian food, prepared by Royal Plaza to more than 1000 people, was served on Banana Leaves, followed by delicious Vorn!
The entire event was compered by Roney Fernandes, Deepak Andrade and Nicol D’Souza. Maxim D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks.
