Bhoja Suvarna selected for Ailesa’s prestigious Vayosamman 2024 award

Mumbai (RBI), December 11: Ailesa - The Voice of Ocean (R) has selected Bhoja Suvarna, the song composer of Tulu film’s first film, Ennathangadi, for the age-appropriate award given annually in the arts, culture and literature category.

 

85-year-old Bhoja Suvarna has composed ten songs for 4 Tulu movies, including Impu Tampu Jaage Undu Swargaya from Yansanyasiape, Odarideeridenna, Radharadha Odepopa Enanbudduseeda, Ire Pritidadin Kathe from Thuzodorthi Savitri, Rajarajamaharaja, Kannittdkaiyittdkallayana and Kasadaye Kandane from this movie. The film songs of Jagate Jagadeeshana and Kankantudakateneebudla have retained their popularity even today.

 

Two songs from Tulu’s first film Heggalike’s Ennathangadi, which was released on 19 February 1971 at Mangalore Central Cinemas, came from the purest of the mind, Kunda Avve Onji Mandira, which is not available today due to technical reasons. Bannanje Govinda Acharya wrote the other of the two songs in the film. Despite poverty, Bhoja Suvarna has written, directed and acted in 24 plays, writing about three thousand songs for plays and films, starting from the age of eighteen while working in a garage. Even at the young age of eighty-five, he is a role model by teaching bhajans to children at the Vithobha Bhajan Mandir in Bokkapatna and worshiping his beloved Kaladevi.

Ailesa’s fourth year birth anniversary award ceremony will be held with gifts equal to the age of the Sadhaka i.e. eighty five thousand in cash and songs, bhajans and performances that the Sadhakas love most.

 

Sarvottamashetti of Abu Dhabi, Moodambailu Ravi Shetty of Qatar, Narendra Shetty of Saudi Arabia will be the chief guests in this simple ceremony. Music director P Ashoka Charan, actress Sarojini Shetty, music director Kavi Manohar, singer Rameshchandra who worked with Bhoja Suvarna will be special guests to wish Bhoja Suvarna.
