Renovated Devarakere is a model for the progressive

Udupi, 07 Sept 2011: Dr. VS Acharya inaugurated the renovated Devarakere at the cost of 55 lakhs of rupees in the Kadekaru village. Speaking at this ccasion, Dr. Acharya said that this renovated lake is a model for the progressive district such as Udupi. The people of Kadekar had joined together to renovate this lake as such, he hoped that people in other regions too would take their example in improving the lakes in their areas.
Since 2006-07, there has been a programme taken up by the state government to improve ponds and lakes in different areas. Not only this, in the budget allotment for the agriculture, each Vidhan Sabha Constituency has been allotted 5 crores f rupees by which around 1000 crores f rupees have been set aside for the renovation of the ponds and lakes in the state. By this project, the famers will have sufficient water supply for agriculture and horticulture. Dr. Acharya said that after the rainy season, this project will be set in motion.
Raghupati Bhat, MLA of Udupi presided over the programme. The function was attended by Dr. N B Vijaya-Dharmadarshi of Ambalpadi temple, Katapadi Shankara Poojary-President of the udupi Zilla Panchayat, Sudhakara Shetty-President of Nagarabhivruddhi Pradhikara, Taranath R Suvarna-President of Kadekaru Grama Panchayat and Vice President of APMC-Bhaskara Shetty.
