Training camp organised by the Swasahaya group at Dendoorkatte

Moodubelle, 11 March 2010: The Swasahaya Group of Moodueblle conducted a training camp for the needy women of Belle and Manipur Grama Panchayats in the premises of the Manipur Grama Panchayat office under the auspices the Kendriya Karmika Shikshana Department, Mangalore on Wednesday, 10th March 2010. This camp was meant to train the needy women in making various household items such as candles, phenyl, bleaching powder and soap.
The training camp was inaugurated through lighting of the lamp by Mrs. Chandravati Krishnaji Kotian, president of the Manipur Grama Panchayat, Mrs. Helen D’Souza, Director of the C.A. Bank, Moodubelle, Mr. Chandrashekhar, Supervisor-Udupi Taluk Swasahaya Organisation and Mrs. Geetha Shetty, in charge of the Moodubelle Swasahaya Group.
In her inaugural address, Mrs. Chandravati Krishnaji Kotian said that the women should take seriously the training in preparing various items that are being used in houses which would give them additional income.
Mrs. Helen D’Souza pointed out that the women should make use of the Swasahaya Groups to improve their lot economically rather than use it as a means to avail easy loans. She emphasised the fact that women should learn making new things through the training facilities that are available in the camps and try to achieve economic stability. She said that there would be other similar camps where women will be trained to prepare and manufacture other items that are useful in the homes.
The Swasahaya Movement was founded by N. Rajendara Kumar, president of the Navodaya Grama Vikasa Charitable Trust, Mangalore.
