Mangalore: Inauguration of childhood cancer care program “Shaurya” in collaboration with Tapasya Foundation, LCIF, Lions International and KMC Hospital was held at KMC Hospital, Ambedkar Circle in the city on Thursday morning.
The program was inaugurated by lighting the lamp.
Sabita R., founder of Tapasya Foundation. Shetty welcomed the guests with introductory remarks.
Lions District Governor Bharti B.M. spoke later. He said, “When children get cancer, their entire family becomes a victim. Tapasya Foundation is doing a commendable job of taking care of children’s cancer. Lions organization helps Tapasya Foundation by going door to door to identify cancer patients and provide them with financial assistance along with medicines. Cancer can occur at any age, but only when it reaches a serious stage are people treated. Thus, if cancer is detected and treated in childhood, it can lead to a full life. Through Tapasya Foundation, let Sabita Shetty continue to participate in similar programs and help cancer sufferers," he said.
Nitte University Vice-Chancellor Dr. spoke later. Shantaram Shetty said, "There is no use in going to temple, mosque, church and praying when cancer comes because it is scientifically proven that cancer can be reversed only with proper treatment. "Cancer can be cured with proper treatment, proper location and care," he said
"Cancer treatment is expensive today. Because of this poor or middle class families stay away from treatment. Today, children affected by cancer are cured and achieving success in life. We have to work on instilling mental fortitude in them. We all joined hands in this program because of Sabita Shetty. Cancer creates a painful atmosphere not only in the home but also in the entire environment. The dreaded disease of cancer can strike anyone today. Tapasya Foundation has been doing such a work that after the completion of each tunnel, there will be a light.
Lion Vasant Shetty spoke, “Rs 1.60 crore with the help of Lions organization and donors. A children’s cancer care center will be started near Mudipu at the cost. Its entire work is being done by the team of Sabita and others through Tapasya Foundation. Thanks for that. Cancer is not a disease that ends quickly, it can haunt us for months, years. Therefore, Tapasya has started this work with the intention that the treatment should not be stopped halfway without money for the treatment. Let us all join hands with it," he said.
Dr. Harsha Prasad L., pediatric cancer specialist of KMC Hospital. He said, "Financial distress is one reason for not getting cancer treatment, and the contempt of the home and society of cancer sufferers is also another reason. "Early detection of cancer symptoms and treatment is the best way to reverse the disease," he said.
Regional Chief Operating Officer of KMC Hospital Sagir Siddiqui, Tapasya Trustee Lion Mohan Shetty, Lion Anil, Lion Vishwas Rao, Lion Ramanath Shetty and others were present on the stage.
