An unprecedented event ’Atidonji Dhina’ organized by Tulukuota Bahrain

Mumbai(RBI), Aug 25: Tulukoot Bahrain in the Gulf nation recently hosted the first-ever One Day event played at the famous Indian Club hall in Bahrain. Honorable Vinod K. Jacob, the Indian Ambassador as the Chief Guest and Naveen Shetty Edmemar, Chairman of Bunts Qatar Organization and Gagana Suvarna Mulki were the guests.

 

Rajyotsava award winner Chandrasekhar Suvarna Mulki, who has become famous for organizing such cultural events in the coast, organized the program under the direction of Mr. Organizations of various communities of Tulu speakers in Bahrain, Konkani and Muslim organizations supported the program and the presidents, office bearers and members of the organizations were present as special guests and this created excitement among Tulu and Kannadigas across the island.

 

Folk sports of Tulunad were conducted in the evening in an effort to introduce the ancient auto competitions of Tulunad to the present generation. Later a cultural program was organized.

 

Rajkumar, one of the chiefs of Tulukoot, welcomed the proposal and said that there was information about the one-day event being held in Bahrain for the first time, and there was an unprecedented response.

 

Another chief, Austin Santosh, invited the ambassadors and heads of various organizations to the platform of the programme. The Indian ambassadors started the ceremony in a grand manner by lighting the lamp and cutting jackfruit into pieces.

 

At the beginning of the cultural program, the tiger costumers under the supervision of Ganesh Salyan and Chirag Suvarna performed a wonderful tiger dance. A tiger cub entering the hall in a palanquin was a special attraction. The costumes of the tiger costumers, which were colored in the style of Tulu Nadu, were specially brought from Mangalore. More than a hundred Tulu artistes performed Tulu folk and cultural dances. As a symbol of Tulu Nadu’s harmony, Muslim youth performed a tambourine while a Konkani troupe performed a folk dance in the Konkani language. Miss Tulu Nadu and Mrs. Tulu Nadu contests depicting the costumes of Tulu Nadu were also organized in the program. More than 20 young ladies and women participated in this.

The guests were welcomed with shawls with Tulu emblems, betel nut, betel nuts and pingara etc. Water and drinks were served to the guests along with ole jaggery. Decorations made of jasmine, sevanti, gonde flowers, pingara, coconut tree horn, banana, mango leaves, jackfruit etc. brought from Tulunad added to the beauty of the ceremony. Tulu participated enthusiastically, regardless of the burning issue of Bahrain.

 

Throughout the beginning of the program, Hindu, Christian and Islamic religious gurus gave the message that we are all one. After receiving the honor, they gave their message in Tulu, and Indian ambassadors abroad wrote a Tulu speech and spoke fluently. I am forever grateful for your hospitality. It is nice to know that there is such a large number of Tulu people in this island. The ambassadors said that they were happy to see the culture and heritage of Tulunad. The whole event was a joy to the Tulu people of Bahrain. The thuls, who gathered in large numbers, received him with deafening applause.

 

Guests Chandrasekhara Suvarna, Navina Shetty Edmemar, Navina Shetty Iruvail and Gagana Suvarna were felicitated in the function. Sandhya Pai, who has been serving at the Embassy of Bahrain and has been helping Tulu and Kannadigas in various ways for decades, was honoured. Joel Desa, a senior Tuluva and Konkani community leader who is leaving Bahrain, was bid adieu.

 

At the end of the program, arrangements were made to taste the dishes of Aati month. The Tulukuta had arranged the opportunity for the Tulu people of Bahrain to taste ten different dishes of Tulu Nadi in more than 60 houses brought from Mangalore such as jackfruit, yellow leaf, timarae and other chutneys, dishes made from kesu leaves, patrode, and jackfruit.

 

Ku| Cultural programs were conducted under the patronage of Namitha Salyan and Pritam Acharya. Under the leadership of Lolakshi Rajaram, women prepared and displayed various dishes of Aati. The members of Tulukoot performed various responsibilities neatly.
