Udupi: Painting exhibition held at Drishya School of Arts

Udupi, 05 September 2011: Speaking at the annual exhibition of paintings of the students of the Drishya School of Arts organized under the sponsorship of Udupi Gallary Drishti Artists Forum on Sunday, September 4, 2011, Dr. Shripati Rao, Dean of Kasturba Medical College said that in modern times arts has a bright future. In this age of mechanical life style, art gives happiness in life. Thus, let us enjoy the arts such as paintings and there is hope that such arts will be promoted by people in the future as well.
Further, Dr. Shripati Rao said that art is world-wide. In everything there is art. Even in science there isw a kind of art. However, when one has a keen eye to this art then only one can realize that art is there in every subject and in every object. When the viewers realize this, then only they can enjoy artistic presentations.
Mrs. Nirupama Prasad Shetty, the former President of the Lioness Club of Udupi and Ranjan Kalkura-Director of Kalkura Refrigeration and Kitchen Equipments felicitated the artists. Ramesh Rao, President of the Artists’ Forum presided over the function. S.K. Pangala compeered the programme and welcomed the guests and also proposed the vote of thanks.
The painting exhibition that will be running for three days from 4 to 6 September 2011 will be open to the people at free of charge. In this exhibition, 32 art students have put up 64 paintings in acrylic medium. The paintings are also for sale.
