Heavy Rains cause havoc in many villages of Bantwala Taluk

Bantwala: Due to continuous rains in the whole taluk since last 24 hours, Netravati river is flowing at a height of 10 meters above the danger level and water has covered many villages along the riverbed.

 

In many places including Gudinabali, Aladka, Jakribettu, Bastipadpu, water has entered the low-lying houses and many houses along the river banks of the taluk have been submerged. Around 8 houses were inundated in Mindala of Navoor village, 5 houses in Guddayangadi and more than 15 houses in Aladka were inundated. Not only that, agricultural gardens and paddies were submerged in the villages of Panemangalore, Bantwala, Navur, Sarapadi and Maninalkur.

 

Bantwala-Jakribettu road Kotekani, BC road Bastipadpu, Aladka area etc., water has fallen on the road and the traffic has been cut off.

 

In many parts of the taluk there have been incidents of hill collapse and the traffic system has been disrupted. On the main road from Guddakusita to Vitla Kalladka, the mud has slid down and the traffic has stopped.

 

Due to the collapse of the hill, the electric wire along with the electric pole has fallen on the road and the vehicular traffic has been suspended. Therefore, the public has requested the cooperation of motorists plying on this road.

A rock in the hill from the road side hill is bent towards the road and the public is advised to be careful about this. Road traffic has been disrupted due to a landslide near Devinagara Rudrabhoomi in Amtadi village, a landslide has occurred on the Agrar - Jakribettu road in Bantwala Kasba village.

 

On the Kallada highway, where four-lane highway work is going on, due to the heavy rain, there was a waterlogging incident on the highway and traffic was disrupted throughout the day.

 

MLA Rajesh Naik notice for relocation of families from dangerous houses.

 

MLA Rajesh Naik has instructed the taluk authorities to move such dangerous houses and the families of houses that are not safe and are at risk of water ingress to safe places.

 

He visited many neighboring affected areas of the taluk despite the intensity of rain and told the taluk administration to make all necessary arrangements for the victims.

 

After the rain subsides and the neighbors come and go, the houses are filled with mud. He told the media that he has instructed the taluk administration to make suitable arrangements to remove the mud from such houses.

 

Tehsildar Archana Bhat, Revenue Inspector Janardhana, Rural SI Harish, District Secretary Devappa Pujari, BJP leaders A. Govinda Prabhu, Nandarama Rai, Ganesh Rai Mani, Janardhana, Sadananda Navura, Dhananjaya Shetty Sarapadi, Ashok Shetty Sarapadi, Dejappa were present on this occasion. Bachakere, Shanthappa Pujari Hattadaka, Chandrahasa Shetty Hollar Guthu, Anand Shetty Bachakere and others were present.

 

Former minister B. Ramanatha Rai visited various affected areas of Bantwala taluk such as lower town of Bantwala, Baddakatte, Darbe, Karambade etc. on Tuesday. At this time, the Collector, Tahsildar, Superintendent of Police, through a door-to-door call, requested them to check the situation themselves and give a response.

 

Bantwala Booda President Baby Kunder, Municipal Council members Vasu Pujari, Riaz Bantwala, Manohar Nerambolu, Jagdish Bantwala were present on this occasion.
