Three days, Summer Camp for National Primary School, Barkur

Barkur, 02 Apr 2024: Children were in a happy and relaxed mood in the Rotary Bhuvan as the Colourful inauguration of 3 days Summer Camp was organised on Monday, 1st April to 3rd April, 2024. As rightly stated by Mrs Veena Shetty, a state level resource person, serving as Assistant teacher in GHPS Hungarkatte, in her key note address – a package of 7 to day’s activities tailor made to fit in 3 days to enable students to develop confidence, independence, social and leadership skills as well as a physical fitness. She outlined ‘the programme with experienced various resource persons scheduled both indoor and outdoor to extract the talents hidden in the participants’.

Soon after the prayer hymn devoutly sung by students, to seek Almighty’s Blessings, Rotarian Mr Babu Naik the Secretary of the Rotary Barkur, extended a warm and homely welcome to all gathered. By The programme was inaugurated by lighting the traditional lamp by guests on the stage.
Newly elected Rotary District Governor Mr BM Bhat, who too was a proud alumnus of NHPS & NJC Barkur, was deservedly honoured with draping of shawl, fruit basket, garland and memento on this occasion. In his message, he congratulated the local Rotary unit for their initiatives and called on the children to ‘make best use of this specially crafted Camp designed for them during vacation, have fun, and while learning lifelong lessons’
Chief Guest Mr Kishore Gonsalves, host and promoter of Barkuronline.com, a website online since 2000, which updates all important news of this historical town Barkur, in his speech, beautifully compared his days with present with plenty of opportunities. ‘Keep away mobiles and cultivate passion for books and reading, come out to open space and enjoy your childhood…’ He appreciated HM and Teachers concern and care for the children in their custody wished the fun filled, well planned workshop resounding success.
‘All may not be having same talents, but something unique is hidden in each child – some may be good in drawing and craft, others in singing or elocution, many in sports and games, here in an opportunity to identify and nurture them…’ – Mr Ashok Kumar Shetty, the Secretary of The Barkur Educational Society opined and assured Mgmt’s best support and encouragement to Head Master Mr Udaya Shetty and his staff in their untiring efforts to promote all-round growth of their students.
Mr Praveen Shetty President, NHPS Old Students Association, unveiled the sample craft item and Mr P. Archibald Furtado, Admin Coordinator of The National Group of Educational Institutions, Barkur were present and conveyed their best wishes.
Rotarian Mr Seetharama S, the President of Rotary Barkur and alumni and the former Office Superintendent of NJC Barkur in his presidential address thanked everyone who collaborated and cooperated with Rotary to have this ‘Chinnara Srujatmaka Shibihra’ for three days.
Teacher Mrs. Shailaja, proposed vote of thanks to all who worked behind the scenes and the donors were specially recognised and appreciated for their generosity and goodwill. Resource personnel for the days programme too were introduced and thanked. Many Rotary Members were present with teachers, parents to witness the beautiful event.
It was truly the best presentation by Retired Head Master Rotarian Mr Sudhakar Rao which deserve special mention for his treasured knowledge and narrative skills, which kept both children and elders occupied throughout the stage programme which was concluded at 11.00 am.
