Two days Annual Sports day in SVVN Heradi Barkur

Barkur, 08 Dec 2023: ‘Shri Vidhyesha Vidyamanya National English Medium High School’, better known as SVVN Heradi – Barkur truly one of the best known, popular and only English Medium High School in Barkur, has its purposeful existence over the last two decades.
It took its birth in 2004 at the initiative of ‘Barkur Educational Society’, has not only recorded finest academic results in SSLC continuously, but also given platform to great sportspersons, who earned a name of recognition and respect in Taluk, District, State and even National level, by winning prizes, trophies and championship.
Yes, all these things will not happen overnight. The rural talents to be trained and fine tuned to face tough competition and excel… and the Head Mistress Mrs Likhita Kotary, Physical Education teachers in Mr Suresh Shetty and Mrs Jyothi, along with all the dedicated teachers, leaving no stone unturned to keep their flock fit and fine throughout the year.
It is the ‘Annual Sports day’, for the entire students’ fraternity to eagerly wait, to showcase their physical capabilities and compete with each other for medals. This year it was scheduled on Friday 8th December for Class V to X and on Saturday 9th December, the day reserved for juniors – KG to Class IV.
At 9.30 am sharp, the grand inaugural, a colourful and disciplined march past by various squads, led by School band was a true feast for eyes as the retired Principal National Junior College, Mr B Seetarama Shetty received guard of honour. After invoking Almighty Lords blessings through prayer hymn, Mr Rajaram Shetty, the correspondent extended a warm welcome to each and everyone gathered to participate and witness the event. He acknowledged the hard efforts put on by HM, PD and team, the continued support of the BES and Mgmt, parents and donors and called the students to participate in all the events with true sportive spirit.
Vice President of Barkur Educational Society (BES) Mr Vittal Shetty, Shedikodlu, hoisted the School flag. After lighting the traditional lamp former Correspondent Dr BM Somayaji declared open the two days annual sports followed by oath taking ceremony led by Sports Secretary Ms Sharanya, on behalf all the participants.
In his address Dr Somayaji wished this two day event a grand success as he reminded that ‘its playground where both brain and body function simultaneously and physical fitness is very essential and integral part for success in life…’ Volley ball and other Teams which represented THE School at District / State level were congratulated and honoured with special prizes on this occasion.
Retired Head Master and a recipient of State Best Teacher award, the newly appointed Secretary of Barkur Educational Society Mr Ashok Kumar Shetty, shared six insightful thoughts with the participants well suited to the event. ‘All are gifted and blessed with some talents and it is right time to recognise, academic, sports or cultural all are equally important to be successful in one’s life. It is not the class room, but field and playground where we make lifetime friendship... .’ he observed and wished this sports event a tremendous success.
Various teams who won the prizes in the just concluded march past were honoured and in the followed presidential address, Mr B. Shantarama Shetty, the President of the ‘Barkur Educational Society’, congratulated the entire SVVN team for their untiring efforts to live up to the expectations with various activities organised in the School. While wishing all the very best to the students he reminded that winning will be our aim, however involving with heart, body and soul in such events is most important and advised them not to be disheartened if not winning medals, because one who decided to participate is a winner himself…
SVVN - Physical Education Director Mr Suresh Shetty, proposed vote of thanks to all who contributed, cooperated and collaborated to make this two days Annual Sports days a successful one.
Almost all the Office bearers of BES, Correspondents of National Educational Institutions, Ex Students Association, Parents Teachers Association, well-wishers and donors, enthusiastic parents attended the function as the whole Inaugural ceremony meticulously compered by Senior Teachers led by Mrs Bridget Gonsalves and Mrs Sabitha Fernandes and well supported by others.
