Shirva: Police found ancient statues in a valley in Belapu

Shirva, 05 August 2011: Shirva Police have found ancient statues in a valley in Payyaru of Belapu Grama on Friday after noon. A.S.I. Jaya K. and A.S.I. Thukarama along with H.C. 1788 were on rounds on their department bikes in Belapu Grama. Upon receiving a confirmed secret information at 11.30 am that there are statues of Gods in a valley in Payyaru of Belapu Grama, they went there to the spot at 12.30 pm.
There they found a statue of God and a statue of Naga God in a 25 feet deep valley. The statues were taken above ground and inspected and found that the God’s statue is about 18 inches tall and seemed that it is made from panchaloha. This seemed ancient statue and its value is estimated to be about 35 to 40 lakhs rupees.
Naga God’s statue is of 5 hood Naga with three rolls coiled delightful statue. This also seemed made from panchaloha and in between the coil eleven Naganda (eggs) were also there. Its height is 7.5 inch and its value is estimated to be about 4 to 5 lakhs rupees.
These statues were taken into possession through inquest. There are assumptions that somebody might have stolen these statues and might have placed in these deserted valley.
