‘Florence’ building and ‘Alvas’ Hardware, Paints and Electrical Shop Inaugurated at Moodubelle

Udupi/M’Belle, 13 Mar 2022: ‘Florence’ building and ‘Alvas’ Hardware, Paints and Electrical shop were inaugurated on the Main Road, Upper Moodubelle Township on Sunday, 13 March 2022 at 9 am. Fr. George D’Souza-Parish priest of St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle along with the proprietors of ‘Florence’ building-Victor D’Souza and Mrs. Cony D’Souza as well as the proprietors of ‘Alvas’ Hardware. Paints and Electrical Shop Louis Alva and Mrs. Lavina Alva inaugurated the building and shop by cutting the ribbon.
Fr. George D’Souza conducted a brief prayer service and blessed the entire building complex. In his benedictory message, Fr. George D’Souza wished well to both the couples-Victor Cony D’Souza and Louis Lavina Alva in their business endeavours.
The brief stage programme was presided over by Devdas Hebbar. Mrs. Ida Gibba D’Souza-President of the Rotary Club, Manipur, Shivaji S. Suvarna-President of CAA Bank, Moodubelle, Gerald Fernandes-Vice President of the Parish pastoral Council, Vincent Fernandes-Contractor of the building and Victor D’Souza-proprietor of ‘Florence’ were on the dais.
Following the welcome address by Mrs. Cony D’Souza, the dignitaries on the dais lighted the lamp symbolizing the formal inauguration of the building and shop complex.
Mrs. Ida Gibba D’Souza, Gerald Fernandes and Shivaji Suvarna in their speeches complimented both Victor D’Souza and Louis Alva for their bold step in putting up the building in such a small area and opening a hardware, paints and electrical shop respectively. They wished them success in their future ventures.
On this occasion, Vincent Fernandes, who conceptualized, planned and constructed the building was felicitated by the dignitaries on the dais.
In his address, Louis Alva narrated the background his bold step in opening the ‘Alvas’ Hardware, Paints and Electrical Shop. He said that after returning from Gulf, he had a dream of starting a business in Moodubelel since the last three years. However, due to the Covid 19 pandemic his dream could not be realized. With the easing of the Covid situation, he approached his cousin Vincent Fernandes with the idea who whole heartedly supported him and in consultation with Victor D’Souza who had a piece of land on the Main Road, took up the task of constructing the building and the ground floor shop area was allotted to Louis Alva for his dream project. Louis Alva also thanked Satish Nayak for his guidance in the hardware and paints business. He expressed his gratitude to Sudhakar Poojary-President of Belle Grama Panchayat for his help in acquiring the necessary approvals and license. He assured the audience good and prompt service with quality goods and materials.
In his presidential address Devdas Hebbar said that Louis Alva being his neighbor has been industrious and hardworking. Since his return from the Gulf, Louis has been cultivating his paternal agricultural land with modern scientific manner and would consult him on various issues related to agriculture. He appreciated the idea of Louis Alva in starting a hardware, paints and electrical shop and wished him well in his business.
Victor D’Souza in his vote of thanks said that the name of the building ‘Florence’ was derived from the names of his late mother Florin D’Souza and late father Lawrence D’Souza. The piece of land used to raise the building was formerly rented by his late father for the tailoring shop which was later purchased by Victor D’Souza.
