Udupi: Suresh Nayak elected as the new APMC President

Udupi, 29 May 2011: Entrepreneur and BJP young leader Kuyiladi Suresh Nayak is unanimously elected as the new President of Udupi Taluk Agricultural Products Marketing Committee (APMC) and Bhaskar Shetty of BJP is also unanimously elected as Vice President. Among the total 11 members in Udupi Taluk APMC, 9 are from BJP, 2 from Congress and 1 from JDS. So for both the positions apart from BJP no other member submitted their nominations. Tashildar V. Prasanna conducted the election.
On this occasion Higher Education Minister Dr. V. S. Acharya, MLA Raghupathi Bhat, BJP Jilla President Udaya Kumar Shetty, Jilla Panchayath President Katapadi Shankara Poojari, Jilla Panchayath Sthayi Samithi President Upendra Nayak visited and congratulated the winners in the election.
Upon the election at 01.00 pm the newly elected President Suresh Nayak spoke and said that as per the terms of APMC, Udupi Taluk APMC will be strengthened and made well equipped. The troubles caused by the mediators to the farmers will be eliminated and will make arrangements for the farmers to sell their produces to the consumers directly, said the new President.
In Udupi Taluk encouragement will be provided to the farmers for the growth of vegetables, fruits and other farm products. Special programs will be conducted to encourage the farmers to cultivate in their lands which are left out without farming. For the improvement of the agriculture, with the help from Jilla Panchayath and NGO various projects will be adopted, he said. With coordination with the Sahakari Banks ware houses will be built at the primary level to store the food products of the farmers, to sell them when there are deserving prices in the market. This will bring prosperity to the farmers, said Suresh Nayak.
