Kuwait: Panglaties Celebrated Easter 2011

Kuwait, 03 May 2011: Panglaties in Kuwait under the banner of Kuwait Pangla Association (KPA) celebrated Easter on 29th April 2011 at the Indian Public School Auditorium, Salmiya.
The celebration began around 12noon with a warm welcome by Mr. Albert Quadras followed with a prayer led by Mr. Mr. George D’Souza.
The Easter celebration was a very cozy affair for Panglaties as it was limited to KPA members and their families. There were loads of fun filled activities for children adults.
Mrs. Alice Saldanha (Alice Teacher) who is from Pangla and currently on a short visit to Kuwait gave a very meaningful Easter message and wished everyone a blessed Easter.
The children had Fancy Dress and Dance competition conducted by Lavina D’mello. Many children took part in the competition to show their talent. This was enjoyed by over one present, it was indeed very entertaining. Mrs. Alice Saldanha and Mrs. Alice Rodrigus were the honorable judges for the fancy dress and Dance competition. All the children performed exceptionally well, which made judges very difficult to choose the winner and the runner up.
The winners and the runner-up of the competition are:
Fancy Dress: 1st Prize - Herwin Quadras and 2nd Prize - Larissa D’mello.
Dance: 1st Prize - Viola Martis and 2nd Prize - Larissa D’mello.
All the remaining participants received consolation prizes. Mrs. Alice Saldanha, Mrs. Alice odrigus, Mrs.Juliet D’souza and Mrs.Fredric Quadras distributed the prizes. In her speech Alice Teacher told the children not to get disappointed if they did not win in the competition since participation more important than winning.
The adults had a share to show their talent too. Mrs. Alice Teacher beautifully sung a Konkani Song which inspired many others to come forward to show their latent. Everyone had a great time listening to many melodious voices.
Mrs. Reena Furtado conducted the Games for Children and Adults.
KPA President Mr. Jerald Quadras greeted everyone with an Easter message; he spoke about the many new initiatives that the association has taken for the welfare of Panglaties in Kuwait. He requested all the members to take active part in their association. He appealed to all those who have not become member of KPA to become members soon, so we could have a much greater sense of community atmosphere among us. He spoke about an appeal from the Pangla Parish Priest for the School project back home. A copy of the appeal was distributed to all members.
A semiyearly (second) edition of KPA newsletter “Panglache Kale” was released. The idea of the newsletter to keep all members up to date with all KPA activities. A copy of the newsletter was distributed to each family.
Mr. Ignatius Quadras led everyone for grace before meal. A delicious buffet lunch was prepared and served by Roy Caterers, Abbaiya, Kuwait. There was nonstop baila dance which won many people spot prizes.
Mrs. Clara D’souza proposed vote of thanks. The Master of Ceremonies Mr. Albert Quadras ably conducted the event.
