Udupi: Philatelist gets Limca Book entry

Udupi, 28 April 2011: The name of Daniel Monteiro, an office staff of St. Mary’s Syrian (SMS) College at Brahmavar in Udupi district and an environment lover, has been included in prestigious Limca Book of Records 2011 for his international-level creditable achievements in the field of birds’ philately.

A release issued by the college here on Wednesday said that Mr. Monteiro had so far bagged 10 silver and bronze medals at international-level exhibitions held in Austria, Belgium, South Africa, Hong Kong, Thailand , South Korea, Indonesia, China, and India.

 

He has received more than 30 gold and silver medals at national and State-level competitions.

 

A large philatelic exhibition “Featherpex – 2009” organised by him with 8,000 stamps of rare birds in Brahmavar received a lot of acclaim.

 

Mr. Monteiro has 31 national and State-level awards to his credit.

 

He was an active member of Philatelic Association of Udupi and Mangalore, the release added.
