Manchester: KCA UK organizes Summer Picnic-2017, memorable fun-filled day

Manchester/UK, 20 Aug 2017: KCA UK organised its annual picnic at Bolton Abbey on Saturday, August 12. Bolton Abbey is one of the well Known locations in England for a perfect family day out, located in the heart of Yorkshire Dales on the banks of river Wharfe. With just under 30,000 acres of beautiful countryside, over 80 miles of footpaths and ample space to run around and enjoy the fresh air, at Bolton Abbey there is something for all ages.

 

Around 40 members of KCA UK living in and around Warrington, Liverpool and Birmingham gathered together at Warrington followed by another 45 members in Manchester began their journey on Saturday at 08.30am. The journey started with prayers. The members reached the picnic spot area at around 10.30am, were another group of 35 members from Oldham, Leeds, Salford and Sheffield joined the group at the picnic spot. President Santhosh Pinto welcomed the gathering.

 

Breakfast prepared by Loyola Moras from Sheffield was served, and by this time of the day the weather started favouring the picnic. The bright sunshine kept the spirit and the enthusiasm of the picnic ongoing.

 

The picnic activities started with ‘Shot Put’ followed by ‘tug of war’ for both adult and kids, which brought excitement and entertainment. This was followed by a few games for the kids. Kids thoroughly enjoyed these games and the parents were happy watching their kids.

 

 

A delicious lunch was served at around 1.30pm. Thanks to KCA team for effectively organising the food and a special thanks to Rio D’Souza, Janet D’Souza, Flavia D’Souza and family for their contribution to the lunch menu.

 

The afternoon session was dominated by throw-ball for ladies and well known Mangalorean rural games like Dog and the Bone, Dizzy-Lizzy (Going around the stick) and Lagori. The games were brilliantly conducted by Santhosh Sequeira, Ronald Lobo and Santhosh Pinto.

 

In the closing hours of the day all the participants, approximately 120 members sat together singing their favourite songs in Konkani, Tulu, Kannada and Hindi. The winning members/teams were honoured with prizes. The charming day further continued with the return journey at 6.00pm where the members in the bus entertained themselves with songs, jokes and laughter.

 

This picnic was also attended by families from Gujarati, Kannada and Pakistani community. KCA UK remains grateful to people from all communities for their contribution towards community cohesion.

 

KCA UK had this picnic well planned; a pre-picnic visit was made to the picnic spot by few members, to help the arrangements for the picnic. This proposed study and planning done created a lot of interest for the group to visit this place.

 

KCA UK takes the opportunity to thank all the members and volunteers who contributed towards the success of the annual picnic.
