Udupi, 02 April 2011: Amazing talent takes coastal youth “Shiva” from cycle repairer to international hair stylist. His hair design on world cup recently and earlier hair style reflecting octopus in London and various other hair designs which drew the attention of hair style lovers. This youth is Shivaram K. Bandari from Atthur, Karkala, Udupi.
Shiva lost his father at the age of three and half years. After studying up to 5th standard he left school and started doing cycle repair works. Today his skilful hands create attractive designs at national and international level to the hairs of famous personalities which includes bollywood stars, directors, producers, models and so on.
In the field of hair style he has also completed advance courses such as Vitas Soon at London in 1998 and Tony & Guide in 2005. In 1998 he was awarded by Saloon International with Golden award, Lions and Rotary achiever awards. He has also received award from Karnataka Sangha and now Savitha Samaja of Udupi has chosen him for the award of Samaja Ratna. He will be going to China on 22rd April to participate in the Fashion Asia Show which will be held on the 23rd April.
During his childhood after working for some time in the cycle shop, Shiva worked in the saloon of his uncle at Balehonnur for 8 months. At the age of 14 he went to Mumbai and worked for 4 years at a saloon in Bandoop and Ghatkoppar. He got a opportunity to go to Gulf, so he made loans and went to Doha Qatar in 1984 and worked in Al Sadd sports club, where his work was appreciated by his Manager and also by the sportsmen from Brazil, Egypt, Sudan, Korea and other countries.
He came back to Mumbai in 1988 and worked in a saloon in Thane. In 1993 he opened his own three seater saloon at Mulund and today he has four saloons in Mumbai. He came up in his life with great difficulty, so he wants to give this hair style education to the interested, hence he has started “Shivas Saloon Academy School” in Andheri. Shiva has trained more than thousands in hair style and he says hair style is a craziness of the transforming society.
Further he says that whatever work we are doing, if we love the work it will make us prosper. Three decades ago I was wandering for a single meal a day. But I never did any wrong work, I saw my mother and God in this profession. I worked hard day and night, which has taken me to this stage today, says Shivaram Bandari.
