KCWA’s Vocal Touch - First of its kind held in Kuwait

Kuwait, 22 May 2016: Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA) in association with Melodia Voice Studio – Dubai held Vocal Touch – A Voice Workshop for adults and children at Indian Public School Auditorium, Salmiya, here on Friday May 20.

 

This workshop was the first of its kind for Mangalorean Konkans residing in Kuwait. The purpose of this workshop was to create awareness in community children and teenagers about the basic knowledge of singing, to exhibit their inherent talent, to help them gain more confidence, to learn techniques about presenting themselves on stage for a professional outcome.

 

The adult’s session was held from 10.00am to 12.00pm and children’s session from 2.00pm to 4.00pm. The event began with MC Deepak Andrade welcoming all music lovers to the workshop. Harry Fernandes recited the opening prayer followed by escorting the guest/presenter Joseph Moras LTCL - Voice Coach and Choral Director, Melodia Voice Studio - Dubai by general secretary Louis D’Costa and vice president Freya Saldanha. A brief profile of Joseph Moras was presented to the participants. Freya Saldanha welcomed the guest and participants and wished success to the event.

 

 

Joseph Moras who with his vast experience in the field of music shared various aspects of singing. He explained techniques of healthy singing, focus on posture and breath management, physical exercise to attain good posture, breathing exercises, Voice warm up exercises, instructions on Articulation, Diction and Communication in singing and how to take care of voice. 63 Adults and 39 Children participated in the workshop. A special session was held for the 12 GVOM Season-5 Semifinalists.

 

Overall, it was a golden experience for the lucky ones who attended. The participants were thankful for this opportunity given by KCWA. As per the feedback received from the participants, they requested more of this workshop and asked for a full day session next time. Certificate of participation was distributed to all participants.

 

In the closing ceremony, Joseph Moras was presented with a memento. In his message, Joseph Moras thanked KCWA for inviting him and requested to encourage more talents in future. Steven Rego proposed vote of thanks. Alban D’Souza captured the event with his skills in photography and videography.  Anand D’Souza of Waves Events & Rentals provided the sound system. The workshop was well organized and co-ordinated by Steven Misquith with the support of GVOM Core Committee and managing Committee members.
