M-BATTLED Kicks off at Milagres College Kallainpur

Kallianpur, 18 February 2011: The Faculty of Commerce, Milagres College Kallianpur organized M-BATTLED a two day state level inter-collegiate commerce fest on Thursday 17th February 2011 at the Milagrees Tri-Centenary Hall Kallianpur. Eight colleges participating in the M-BATTELD Fest.
The Programme began with a prayer song by the students of commerce. Rev. Fr. Fred Mascarenhas, Principal of Milagres College welcomed the guests and the gathering. Episcopal vicar of the Udupi district, Rev. Dr. Baptist Menezes presided over the function. The Lokayukta of Karnataka, Mr. Justice M. Santhosh Hegde inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional Lamp.
After inaugurating the fest, Santhosh Hegde said that rich person should not be mistaken to be a successful person. Society should examine the means through which he became rich and if he was corrupt, he should be ostracized. He said corruption is not limited to officials and politicians, but encompasses everyone. He urged the people to think of the fate of the future generations and stressed the need to teach the meaning of satisfaction to children. He said satisfaction is temporary when greed overtakes need. There has been zero tolerance for corruption in this country as zero has no value, he said.
US $ 1456 billion has been uncovered at Swiss Banks and this kind of money can remove India’s international debt three times over, he said. The Lokayuktha concluded his speech by urging the students to be innovative.
On this occasion, the Lokayuktha felicitated Karthick for his outstanding achievements in the Basket Ball tournament. Rev. Fr. Fred Mascharenhas, Principal of the Milagress College, Fr. Vijay Lobo Principal of Milagres PU College, Prof. Merwin D’Souza, Staff Coordinator of the fest, Chester D’Souza and Lavith D’Souza, the student coordinators of the fest were present on the dais.
Lavith D’Souza delivered the vote of thanks and Rizawan compared the programme.
