M’lore: Sandesha awards to be presented on 7th February 2010

Mangalore, 30 January 2010: The Sandesha Awards 2010 will be presented on Sunday, 7th February 2010 at 5.30 pm at Sandesha, premnagar, Bajjodi, Mangalore.


Fr Valerian, Na D’Souza and Leo D’Souza

Most Rev. Dr. Aloysius P. D’Souza, Bishop of Maangalore will preside over the Award Presentation Function. Most Rev. Dr. Henry D’Souza, Bishop of Bellary and Chairman of the Sandesha Foundation will grace the occasion and  Shri P. Jayaarama Bhat, Managing Director of the Kartnataka Bank will be the Chief Guest.

The winners of the Sandesha Awards  for the year 2010 in different fields are the fllowing:


Dr. Edward Nazareth, Dr. Chandrashekhar Kambar, Shri Walter Nandalike, Smt. Kalamandalam Usha Datar, Shri Louis Mendonca


Shri S.N. Sethuram, Smt. Janaki Brahmavar, Shri Chaiatanya Mandira, Shri Dinesha Amin Mattu

  • Dr. Chandrashekhar Kambar, Bangalore for his contribution in the field of literature in Kannada. He has been a prolific writer in Kannada and an academician.
  • Dr. Edward Nazareth, Mangalore for his contribution for the Konkani Literature.
  • Smt. Janaki Brahmavar, Udupi for her contribution in the Tulu literature.
  • Smt. Kalamandalam Usha Datar, Bangalore in the field of Arts for her contribiton as a classical dancer.
  • Shri Dinesha Amin Mattu, Bangalore for his contribution in journalism.
  • Shri S.N. Sethuram,Bangalore for his contribution in the field of television for writing, ddirecting and producing two popular Kannda serials-Manthana and Dibbana.
  • Shri Walter Nandalike, Mangalore, Editor-in-chief of Daijiworld.Com for his contribution in Media education.
  • Shri Louis Mendonca, Shirva, Udupi who was the founder principal of St. Mary’s College, Shirva for his contribution in the field of education.
  • Sandesha Special Recognition Award has been conferred on Chaiatanya Mandira, Hasan for taking care of the Aged and the Sick. Dr. Gururaj Bhat is the President of the Administrative Board.

Sandesha is the Foundation for Culture and Education under the auspices of the Karnataka Regional Catholic Bishops’ Council.
