Republic Day Celebration in Moodubelle and Edmeru Schools

Moodubelle, 27 January 2011:  

St. Lawrence Composite PU College:

The Republic Day was celebrated in St. Lawrence Composite PU College on Wednesday, 26th January 2011 at 9.45 am. Following the welcome and prayer, Fr. Paul Sequeira, principal of the PU College hoisted the national flag.

 

Following the flag hoisting a stage function was organised in the college hall. Fr. Arun Mendonca conducted Quiz Competition for the student. Vinod, a student of X B gave a speech on the occasion of the Republic Day. Harold D’Souza, Hindi teacher gave the Republic Day message on behalf of the teachers. Students presented patriotic songs. Principal, Fr. Paul Sequeira distributed prizes to the winners in the Quiz Competition and also to students who had passed the Merit Cum Means Scholarship examination.

 

 

In his presidential speech, Fr. Paul Sequeira made an appeal to the students to be good students, good citizens and to be the resources of the country. Following the cote of thanks, sweets were distributed to the students.

 

St. Lawrence English Medium School:

Fr. Lancy Saldanha, Principal of St. Lawrence English medium School hoisted the national flag at 9.30 an in the school premises and delivered the republic Day message to the students.

 

Mr. Shekhar Poojary, Arts teacher of Nehru High School and the Secretary of District Scouts  was the chief guest for the Republic Day programme during which the Cub, Bulbul and Guides associations were inaugurated formally by lighting the lamp by Mr. Shekhar Poojary, Fr. Lancy Saldanha and Guides Captain Mrs. Sumalatha.

 

 

In his message at the occasion, Mr. Shekhar Poojary explained the nine rules of the Scouts Association. The members of the above associations presented group songs. Prizes and certificates of Jnana Surabhi and Taramandala Examinations were distributed to the students. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.

 

Shri Mahabhaleshwara Hindu Anudhanitha Higher primary School, Edmeru:

Devdas Hebbar, the newly elected member of Udupi Taluk Panchayat was the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations in the school. Elias Lobo, Sun Shine LIC Moodubelle and member of General Managers’ Club for Agency hoisted the national flag.

 

During the stage programme on this occasion, Takdabail Vishwanatha Shetty, a hotelier from Poona and  Ratnakar Shetty, retired officer from Vijaya bank promised to sponsor the construction of a stage for the school in memory of their mothers. Elias Lobo donated a carom board to the school. Mukehs from IDBI Bank sponsored the education of two meritorious students for the year 2011-12.

 

 

A number of prominent personalities including Mrs. Jacintha Aranha, President of Belle Grama Panchayat and Shivaram Salian, GP member were present for the republic Day celebrations.
