Moodubelle, 22 January 2011: Following the sanction given by the Governor of Karnataka, Hansraj Bharadhwaj for the prosecution of the Chief Minister, BS Yeddyurappa in corruption cases on Friday, 21st January 2011, the BJP had given a call for statewide ‘bandh’ on Saturday, 22nd January 2011 from 6 am. In different parts of the state the BJP workers have been demonstrating for the closure of the shops and business establishments. The government has declared holiday to all educational institutions throughout the Karnataka state. In many places, especially in Bangalore, the miscreants had burnt nearly 30 public transport buses and have damaged a number of private vehicles. A large number of office-goers and daily wage earners have been put to great inconvenience due to the ruling party (BJP) sponsored ‘bandh’.
The effect of the BJP sponsored ‘bandh’ in Moodubelle has been partial. While, the public transport buses have been off the road due to the fear of being damaged by the BJP supporters, the shops in the township are open. As per the directives of the administration, the educational institutions in Moodubelle and surrounding villages have been closed so as to avoid inconvenience to the students and teachers. Due to lack of buses, the number of people in the township coming for various work has been considerably reduced.
