London, 22 January 2011: Hrithik Roshan became the fifth Bollywood star to have his wax statue unveiled at the world-famous Madame Tussauds museum in London. In homage to one of his most famous roles, he is portrayed in a short sleeved shirt left wide open to reveal his toned and taut body to full effect. Actor Hrithik Roshan spoke during an interview in London, January 20, 2011 after he unveiled his wax double at Madame Tussauds museum there.
Hrithik fans abroad will at least get to pose with the statue even if the real star remains elusive! The figure took four months to make at a cost of 150,000 pounds and joins fellow Indian film stars Amitabh Bachan, Aishwarya Rai, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan in the special Bollywood area. The wax statue of Hrithik Roshan even has his extra thumb! With a whole line of Bollywood stars the museum hopes to raise its profit with an increase in Indian and Asian tourist inflow.
Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan comes face-to-face with his wax figure, delighting fans when the award winning actor was revealed ’Dhoom’ style. The star worked closely with the museum to ensure the pose, which was kept tightly under wraps until January 20, was spot on. On meeting his double for the first time Hrithik said it was incredible how detailed the figure is. He thinks the museum totally captured his look. To co-incide with the launch of Hrithik’s new figure the area has been given an update with an interactive touch screen where people can watch their favourite dance routine from five Bollywood icons.
No matter how plump or thin Hrithik gets in real life, his wax double will have the famous six pack abs forever! Roshan was completely involved in the creation of the figure - attending two sittings in Mumbai and London where the sculptors captured a catalogue of reference photographs and hundreds of precise measurements. Hirthik also donated the shirt and jeans his figure is wearing. The star of hit films including Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, Dhoom:2, Krrish and Jodha Akbar is the youngest male actor from India to be honoured by Madame Tussauds.
