Bangalore: Melwin Peris Nite at St. John’s Hospital Auditorium

Bangalore, 18 January 2011: Melvin Peris Musical Nite hosted by Bangalore Konkani Catholic Sangh, Koramangala(BKCS) in order to raise the funds for St. John’s Medical College & Hospital’s prestigious project for Children suffering from "Thalassemia",held at St John’s Auditorium, Koramangala, Bangalore was held on Sunday 16th January 2011.
Mr.Alwyn Mendonca the President of BKCS welcomed the gathering. The Grand Musical Nite was started by Mr.Lionel D’Souza who compered the programme with a welcome song and dance by the children of BKCS family followed by felicitation by the Association office bearers to the dignitaries. Rev.Dr.Lawrence D’Souza, the Director of St.John’s Hospital(St.John’s National Academy of Health Sciences)Bangalore, Rev.Glen Mascarehnas the Associate Director of Finance St.John’s Medical College & Hospital, Mr.Valerian Fernandes, the Chairman of FKCA, Justice B.V.Pinto, Judge of the High Court,Government of Karnataka(former President of BKCS), Rev.Fr.Faustine Lobo, the Spiritual Director for BKCS, Dr.Krishna Phadke, H.O.D of Pediatrics, St John’s Hospital, Mr.Melwin Peris, the Yodelling King, Mr.Leslie Fernandes, Proprietor of Dock & Dell Shipping Corporation, Mr.Frank Coelho, Assistant Governor of District 3190 Rotary International. Dr.Fulton D’Souza explained in detail about the decease Thalassemia.The merit students who scored highest percentage of marks in their respective exams were also awarded. This was conducted by Mrs.Mandoline Machado Cultural Secretary BKCS.The musicians were also felicitated by the Association compered by Mrs.Vinola D’Souza,the Joint Secretary of BKCS.The Chief Guest Rev.Fr.Dr.Lawrence D’Souza in his speach thanked BKCS for rendering the helping hand to the poor children of Thalassemia project and he also appreciated the hard work of BKCS which has so many Mangalorean Konkani Catholics who reside in and around Koramangala, Bangalore.
The main event of the evening started with the melodious song’ Dabazo’ by Melvin Peris. Sangeeth Guru-Joel Pereira directed the music. The entire programme was meticulously planned and executed with a well balanced choice of songs and sung by most of the singers associated with Melvin throughout his career. All the numbers rendered were instant hits with the crowd.
Melvin Peris was accompanied by Rony Crasta, Joseph M.Pinto, Anita Samson, Amabel Moras and Edith who rendered scintillating songs in this Musical Nite. Jerry - Duje (Joseph M.Pinto) duo kept the audience on their toes with their rib tickling innovative comedy act. Naach Sobhan, a professional dance troupe from Mangalore presented dance numbers during the songs.
The Musical Nite was concluded with the vote of thanks by Charles Menezes, General Secretary BKCS. After this,there was a get-together at the food court adjacent to the auditorium.There were some spot games followed by Baila .Everybody enthusiastically participated and enjoyed the night.The entire BKCS team put in a lot of hardwork in making this event very successful.
