Udupi/M’Belle: St. John the Baptist II Ward celebrates the feast of their patron saint

Udupi, 25 Jun 2015: The members of  St. John Baptist II Ward celebrated the feast of their patron saint on 21 June 2015 at 5.30 pm at the residence of Mrs. Gladys Rebell. The actual day of the feast of the birth of St. John the Baptist was on 24 June 2015.

 

The Parish Priest of St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle, Rev. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas, Co-Pastor and Director of Assisi Nilaya, Rev. Fr. Victor Fernandes(OFM Cap) and Rev. Fr.Sunil D’Souza and  secretary of parish council Mrs. Latha D’Mello were present.

 

Following the prayer song by ward children, Lloyd Rebello welcomed the gathering. Ward report was read by Secretary of the ward Mrs. Winnifred.  Prizes were distributed to the talented children of the ward. Prizes were also given away to the children who had prepared cribs during the last Christmas season. The members of the ward including children and youth presented dances, skit, songs and jokes by the ward people. There was also lucky game of ‘housie housie’ as part of entertainment.

 

            

 

Fr. Sunil told about his childhood story of ‘golibaje’ in his talk  and encouraged ward people. Fr. Victor in his message extended the greetings of the feast to the ward members. given the message  of St. John Baptist and wished the ward people.  Fr. Clement Mascarenhas briefly narrated the life and mission of  St. John Baptist and appreciated the talents of the children of the ward for presenting the entertainment programme.

 

Gurkarn of the ward,  Mrs. Eliza Mendonca thanked everyone and specially  Mrs. Gladys Rebello for hosting the feast in her house. The food was prepared by the cooperation of the ward members. Fr. Sunil D’Souza recited the grace before the meal. The programme was compeered   by Melisha Rebello.
