Vittal, 14 December 2010: The Vittal Anantheshvara Temple Shashti Rathothsava was held with great pomp and devotion on 11th December 2010 as part of the weeklong celebrations from 10th to 16th December 2010.
Shri Ananteshwara Devasthana, at Vittal, is one of the earliest established temples in the Kanaras of our community. The annual Rathotsava held on Champa Shashti – where devotees come from far and wide- from the surrounding villages to different corners of the country - is a significant indication of the bhakti and shraddha that thousands have in Lord Shri Ananteshwara. Parama Pujya Parijnanashram Swamiji had said in His Ashirvachan in 1972, “Vithal, the abode of Lord Shri Ananteshwara is a holy kshetra having sacred association with our Guru Parampara...”
The Sacred Connection: Since Parama Pujya Keshavashram Swamiji performed the Punar-prathishtha in 1804, every Mathadhipati of Shri Chitrapur Math has been closely connected with the Devasthana. In the new millennium, Parama Pujya Sadyojat Shankarashram Swamiji, the 11th Mathadhipati has blessed and guided the community members in the smooth management of this temple, gracing the annual Shashti Mahotsava with His Divine Presence, instilling enthusiasm and devotion in the whole community. This temple has been the venue for the observance of the Chaturmasya Vrata thrice in the past. Parama Pujya Anandashram Swamiji observed it in the years 1947 and 1953 and Parama Pujya Sadyojat Shankarashram Swamiji in 2004.
