Minister U T Khader inaugurates Mangalore University’s Swachh Bharat Campaign

Mangaluru, 30 Nov 2014: The state health and family welfare minister U T Khader offered motion for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at Mangalore University, Konaje complex here on Saturday November 29.  The cleanliness campaign was organized by Mangalore University in collaboration with Konaje gram panchayat, Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP), Pragatibandu self-help-group, Mangala Grameen Yuvak Sangh, Saptaswara Arts Group – Kuntalagiri, Mahakali Seva Mandal and JCI – Mangalagangotri and Lions Club.

 

The state legislative council chief whip Captain Ganesh Karnic after inaugurating the stage programme, said that the need of the hour is to think scientifically about transforming the waste into resources.  The extreme greed and quest of humans to conquer the natural resources should be given up, said Captain Karnic.

 

Captain Karnic also said unilateral thinking by all in the society can lead to success in endeavour.  Meanwhile, at the existing situation, the parents have lost the moral right to educate their children on cleanliness because the former has not set an example for the later, said Captain Karnic.

 

 

Speaking on the occasion, MLC Ivan D’Souza said, ‘We are facing the taxation for garbage disposal in urban areas, while we got to wake up before it gets extended to rural areas,’ cautioned MLC Ivan.

 

Mangalore south MLA J R Lobo said the penalizing the people responsible for causing environmental pollution would change the mindset of people, said MLA Lobo.

 

Mangalore University vice-chancellor Professor K Bairappa in his presidential address said that it was the third programme that was organized by Mangalore University in collaboration with general public in this year.  He expressed the locals for collaborating with the University.

 

Mangalore University registrar Professor P S Yadapadittaya, finance officer Professor Fakirappa, Dakshina Kannada ZP vice president Satish Kumpala and others were present.

 

JCI president Ravishankar rendered the prayer on cleanliness.  The controller of examinations Professor B Narayan welcomed the gathering. Professor Bhoja Poojary proposed vote of thanks.
