St Jude parishioners of Jerimeri celebrate feast of patron saint

Mumbai, 29 Oct 2014: The parishioners of St Jude’s parish, Jerimeri, here celebrated the feast of their patron saint; an ongoing devotion since 42-years was celebrated with utmost devotion here on Sunday October 26.
The highlight of the feast was a special nine-day novena in honor of St Jude held from October 17 to October 25 in English, Konkani, Tamil, Marathi and Malayalam. Special prayers were offered for various intentions during the novena with different themes on Eucharist. Priests were invited from different parishes. People gathered in large numbers and priests prayed for the gathered devotees.
Kurla deanery vicar Fr Lancy Pinto celebrated the festal Holy Mass along with Fr Maxwell Furtado and Fr Gabriel Maria at St Jude’s parish here on Sunday at 9.00am.
Fr Lancy Pinto in his homily on the greatest commandment of ‘Love God with all your heart, soul and mind and also love your neighbor as yourself.’ He also briefed about 7 Sacraments and gave an example of Pope John Paul II who was humble and respected.
Fr Lancy released the parish bulletin on the same occasion.
The entire church campus was decked for the annual feast. The church was elegantly and aesthetically decorated, especially the main altar with flowers.
A solemn procession with the statues of St Jude, Mother Mary and St Michael was held on Sunday at 8.00pm. People in large numbers participated in the procession devotionally with blowing candles, rosary, prayers and hymns. The procession started from parish ground passing through 90 Feet Road, Safed Pool, Kurla - Andheri Road. It was concluded by general blessing of the sick and benediction of the Blessed Sacrament at the church by Fr Gabriel Maria.
Fr Lancy, Fr Gabriel and Fr Maxwell thanked the congregation for the success of the event during different linguistic Masses.
