Tulu Koota Kuwait presents Tulu Parba - 2014, Tulunadu Cultural Splendor

Kuwait, 24 Oct 2014: Tulu Koota Kuwait celebrated Tulu Parba - 2014 at American International School, Maidan Hawally, here on Friday October 17 at 3.30pm.


Indian Ambassador to Kuwait Sunil Jain, Ambassador of India to Kuwait, UAE Exchange chief operating officer – Global Operations Abu Dhabi Sudhir Shetty was the chief guests inaugurated the programme here on Friday afternoon.


The dignitaries also released a commemorating souvenir on the same occasion.


Tulu Koota Kuwait president Tharendra Shettigar briefed on the endeavors of Tulu Koota Kuwait to uphold Tulunadu heritage, culture and traditional values along with the welfare activities.


Ambassador Sunil Jain expressed his happiness to attend such cultural events and mentioned that it is a medium with which the people of Kuwait would know India better.

 
Sudhir Shetty, in his charismatic speech stressed the importance of Tulunadu culture and language.  He also said Tulu can effectively sustained by the parents to encourage their children to speak in Tulu at home.


 
Sudhir Shetty was felicitated with the traditional shawl, fruits, and memento.


The cultural program commenced with welcome dance from the children of the Natya Veda Dance School.


The stage of Tulu Parba became colorful with the arrival of Vilas Nayak on the stage. The ace speed painter, the finalist of ‘India’s Got Talent’ on Colors TV brought the stage alive with his paintings of Yakshagana character in colorful costumes which is popular in Tulunadu, Mother Teresa with glitters alone and the Girl’s face upside down. He also painted a patriotic portrait depicting national integrity with 4 different canvas frames in tandem with dance drama ‘Sauragini Rashtra’ enacted by the Koota children and directed by cultural secretary Suresh Salian. The semi classical dance by Anjali School of Dance was a visual treat. Another dance recital, ‘Dashavatar’ also directed by Suresh Salian and with dance choreographed by Shantala Satish mesmerized the audience with scenes of different incarnations of Vishnu shown on the stage.

 


In the felicitation ceremony, the founder member of Koota, the late John Misquith was posthumously awarded with memento in memory of his outstanding services.


Ambassador Sunil Jain felicitated Tulu Koota Kuwait former president Elias Sanctis with shawl, fruits and memento for his continuous support to the association.


The Committee members Wilson D’Souza, Geetha Suvarna and Sanath Shetty were felicitated for their continued support.


The scholarships and merit certificates for academic excellence in Class X and Class XII s were presented to the deserving children of Koota members.


The mementos were presented to all the sponsors in appreciation of their support for the activities of Tulu Koota Kuwait activities.


It was followed by the much-awaited Tulu Comedy drama, ‘Bangar Babu,’ by playwright Arun Chandra B C Road, who was here in Kuwait for the show.

 
Arun  has bagged Best Comedian award in ‘Bale Telipale,’ realty comedy show and was here to participate in the drama. The drama was directed by Satish Acharya.


Also present in Kuwait were the prominent Tulu-Konkani drama artist Nellu Permanoor and the music director of the drama, Vishwanath Nelyadi. The local artistes Satish Acharya, Chandrahas Shetty, Sanath Shetty, Manoj Bangera, Purandara Manchi, Lionel Rayan, Lucy Aranha, Mahesh Poojary, Sanmati  Menda, Mithun Vishwanath, Jyoti Sudhir,  Ashwini  Pinto and Rajesh Fernandes rocked the show all through the 3-hour enthralled the audience with brilliant performances.


The general secretary proposed the vote of thanks with special mention of the sponsors.


The event sponsor was UAE Exchange, while the mega sponsor was Khain Properties - Udupi. The main sponsors were Presidency Homes & Infrastructures - Mangalore, NAPESCO and Northern Sky Properties - Mangalore. The gold sponsors were Al-Ahlia Insurance Company SAK and Burhan Technologies, while the silver sponsor were Al Mulla Group, Al Rashid International Shipping Company, Raja Company WLL, Ashraf & Co Ltd, Avanti Palace Restaurant,  Alghanim Fencing Industries Co, Oriental Restaurant & Confectionery, Paragon Builders, Sagar Transport, Al Arfaj Engineering Co WLL, KEMS, White Stores, Al Barakah National Co and Advanced Technology Company.


Purander  Manchi, Bhavani Madhav, Reshma Menezes and Sachinanda Suvarna compered the programme. 

 

The lighting was done by Anand D’Souza and the show was concluded by singing the National Anthem.
