Kundapur: Surgeons at Bangalore remove heap of surgical cotton left behind during caesarian surgery

Kundapur, 18 Sep 2014: The family of a woman alleged negligence of doctors whilst performing caesarian surgery by forgetting cotton cloth in her uterus which was discovered after 3 months.
Arun Kumar Shetty, who is a native of Areshiroor, near Byndoor, here is a hotelier in Bangalore admitted his wife thirty-one-year-old Sulochana Shetty in a private hospital here for the delivery on June 24. Sulochana delivered baby girl by caesarian on June 25. She was discharged from the hospital on July 6. Meanwhile, she returned to the hospital and informed the doctors about heavy bleeding, while the doctors said that its normal and she would be alright in a few days. However, the bleeding did not stop and she rushed to the same hospital again and underwent scanning.
The local scanning center reported of blood clot to the doctor concerned who advised to undergo minor surgery. Meanwhile, the doctor avoided the surgery because she had come all alone on that day.
When the bleeding persisted, her husband took her to Bangalore and consulted a renowned gynecologist who identified the problem and advised to take her to specialty hospital.
The surgeons at super specialty hospital in Bangalore removed a mass of surgical cotton from her uterus. The woman is recovering after the surgery. The hospital sources informed that they are monitoring her health closely.
