Udupi: Primary School Teachers Educational Workshop organized by Rotary Shankerpura

Udupi, 10 Sep 2014: Rotary Club Shankerpura organised Primary School Teachers Educational Workshop on 06th September 2014 at Rotary Centenary Bhavan Sahnkerpura, jointly with Inner Wheel Club of Shankerpura in association with Public Education Dept, Udupi Zone and with the cooperation from Dr. T. Ramesh Pai Human Resources Development centre, Manipal.
Like every year the event was sponsored by Rtn. Stany Rodrigues and family members in memory of their parents Late. Scolestica and late J.M.Rodrigues both teachers by profession, dedicated their lives to shape the future of the students.
The Workshop was inaugurated by Rtn. Stany Rodrigues by lighting the lamp in the presence of Chief Guest Rtn. Prof. P.Dayananda Shetty. The function was presided by Rotary President Rtn. Jerome Rodrigues. RI District 3180, Zone III Assistant Governor Rtn. M.G.Nagendra, Inner Wheel President, Mrs. Monica Saldanha, Club Secretary Rtn. Clifford D’Mello and Vocational Service Director Rtn.Oliver Rebello were present on the dais.
The first session was conducted by eminent speaker and resources person Dr.Kishore Shetty, Govt. High School, Haladi, Byndoor. Second session on modern teaching was by Shri, H. Chandrashekar Kedleya, a State Award Winner and the third session on study of geography a new vision by Rtn. U.Nandan Kumar, retired lecturer S.V.H. Pre-University College, Innanje.
For the valedictory function Rtn. Dr. Gururaj K, Zonal Lieutenant, RI District 3180, Zone III was Chief Guest. Two retired teachers, Shri. Y.Chandrashekar Rao and Smt. Irene Noronha were felicitated during the valedictory function for their selfless services to the community.
At the beginning Rtn.Antony D’Sa, Past President & Chairman, Membership Development in his introductory speech, explain the importance of the workshop which is being sponsored every year by Rtn. Stany Rodrigues & family. The Chief Guest Rtn. Prof. Dayananda Shetty lauded the efforts of the Rotarians of the club for organising such workshops and told the teaching fraternity the knowledge imparted by them helps in nation building.
The entire programme was compeered by Club Service Director Rtn. U.Nandan Kumar and Community Service Director Rtn. Naveen Amin.
