Mumbai: St Joseph’s Konkani Welfare Association, Mira Road hosts Talent Competition

Mumbai, 18 Aug 2014: St Joseph’s Konkani Welfare Association, Mira Road® organized Konkani Talent Competition at Terrace Hall of St Joseph’s Church, Mira Road here on Sunday August 19. The competitions were held in elocution, singing and dance categories. The competition was held for the parishioners of St. Joseph’s Church Mira Road.
Mira Road – St Joseph’s parish priest and St Joseph’s Konkani Welfare Association spiritual director Fr Nelson Pinto OCD inaugurated the competition by a prayer.
St Joseph’s Konkani Welfare Association president John Crasta, secretary Arun Noronha, cultural secretary Hilary D’Silva, treasurer Lawrence Mathias and other members were present on the occasion.
The renowned Konkani writer V D’Silva, Kanjurmarg, renowned singers Antony Tauro, Sakinaka, Ivan Sequeira, Bhayander and Charles D’Cunha, Borivali were the jurors of competitions.
Speaking on the occasion, V D’Silva praised the efforts taken by the St Joseph’s Konkani Welfare Association for the betterment of Konkani by organizing such talent competitions. He remembered the Konkani Utsav organized by the Association and gave a glimpse of splendor of Konkani culture.
Charles D’Cunha said that he is a juror for the successive third year and he has seen that the quality of participation is increasing every year.
Ivan Sequeira congratulated all participants and said that many may not get prizes, by this they should not get disheartened but should return next year with better preparation.
Antony Tauro thanked the organizers for inviting him to juror for such a beautiful event.
