Udupi Post department to organize district level Postage Stamp Exhibition

Udupi, 11 Nov 2023: Udupi Post Department organized the District Level Postage Stamp Exhibition Krishna Pex 2023 on November 18 and 19 at Nutana Ravindra Mandapa of MGM College.

 

Addressing a press meet held at Udupi Press Club here on Friday, November 10, Ramesh Prabhu, Superintendent of Post Offices, Udupi Division said that perhaps this is a memorable event in the history of Udupi Post Department. Because Udupi Post Division was established in 1973 and this year is celebrating its golden jubilee, it is very special that this program is being held. In particular, Udupi district was formed in 1997 and this is the first time that a district level stamp exhibition will be held.

 

Another feather to this greatness is that collecting postage stamps is not only a hobby but it also enhances our knowledge and reflects the culture of the country and abroad, therefore such a rich hobby is called the king of hobbies. With the aim of developing this hobby in today’s young generation, the postal department is conducting such stamp exhibition, he said.

 

 

Similarly, we organized a two-day program from our postal department. Prominent stamp collectors of the district will participate in this exhibition and display their collection.

 

This program will be inaugurated by Shri K Prakash, Hon’ble Chief Postmaster General of our Karnataka Postal Circle by lighting the lamp. Our Southern Karnataka Zone Postmaster General Mr. LK Das and Director Mr. TS Ashwat Narayan will also participate and other eminent persons of the district will participate in this program as guests.

 

Various postage stamps and postal accessories will be displayed in more than 150 frames in this exhibition. The exhibition will be held in three categories, firstly in the invitation class, the collectors of the district who have won awards in various exhibitions in the past will display their collection. In the second section, the district collectors will display their collection of stamps and prizes will be awarded for the best displays. In the third section, the youth and children of the district will display their collections and awards will be given for the best performances. A workshop on postage stamp collection for children will also be organized in this exhibition. Four special postal envelopes and eleven picture postcards will be unveiled on this occasion. Children and young people are encouraged to participate in this program and their cooperation is requested for its success.
