Lightning bolt kills two cows in Udupi

Udupi: Two cows were killed when lightning struck them on Thursday evening at Bola village in Karkala taluk, Karkala taluk office sources said on Friday. The loss has been estimated at Rs. 30,000.

Electrical wiring in the house of Appi Poojarti at Nuralbettu village in Karkala taluk was burnt due to lightning, inflicting a loss of Rs. 6,000.

According to the control room at the Deputy Commissioner’s office here, Udupi received 70.2 mm of rainfall in 24 hours till 8.30 a.m. on Friday. Kundapur and Karkala received 71.4 mm and 58.4 mm of rainfall respectively, sources said.
