M’belle: Cash prizes distributed to meritorious students

Moodubelle, 01 August 2012: Cash prizes totaling Rs. 78,000/- were distributed to 11 meritorious students St. Lawrence PU College and High School who had scored distinction marks in the PUC and SSLC Examinations held in the month of March 2012 were distributed on Saturday, July 28, 2012. These prizes were instituted by Mr. Ravindranath Belle in memory of his mother late Padmavathi Vittla Rao.
The programme began at 11.30 am. Fr. Paul Sequeira welcomed the guests and spoke about the importance of the programme.
Mr. Sadananda Rao, retired teacher of Church Aided Higher Primary School, Moodubelle and a close relation of Mr. Ravindranath Belle handed over cash prizes to distinction holders of SSLC. Prizes for the PUC section were distributed by the family members of Mr. Ravindranath Belle. For Science section by Mr. Karunakar Rao; for Commerce section by Mr. Divakar Rao and for Arts section by Mrs. Snehalatha Rao.
The meritorious students who received cash prizes are: PUC Science- Ranjith, Melissa Rebello and Nikhil Prabhu; PUC Commerce- Vipin Loy Machado, Sowmya and Naveen Alfred; PUC Arts- Praveen Fernandes and Deeksha Kulal; and SSLC-Nagaraja Nayak, Sriraksha Hebbar and Ashwitha.
On this occasion, Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes, Correspondent of St. Lawrence Educational Institutions felicitated Mathematics lecturer-Santosh Amin and Srinivas Ballal, Kannada teacher for being selected as members of committees for improving standard of high school education, department, Bangalore.
In his address, Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes thanked Mr. Ravindranath Belle and his family members for encouraging the students by giving cash prizes to the meritorious distinction holding students.
Senior teacher of St. Lawrence High School, Mrs. Hilda Aranha proposed the vote of thanks.
