Builder gives Rs. 4 cr to college in Mangalore

Mangalore, 16 May 2012: Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly N. Yogish Bhat said on Wednesday that a new building for the Government First Grade College on Car Street was being built on the college premises by a donor at an estimated cost of Rs. 4 crore.
Mr. Yogish Bhat told presspersons on the sidelines of udyog mela that the donor, P. Dayananda Pai, who is a builder in Bangalore, was constructing the building for the college.
The Government hadn ot provided any grant for the building, he said. He said that the ground plus two-floor building was being built in 16,000 sq. ft. area. It would have 24 rooms. He said he had also requested Mr. Pai to construct classrooms and a hall for D.Ed. students at Balmatta. It might cost Rs. 1 crore.
Hanging bridge
Mr. Bhat said that plans were afoot to construct a hanging bridge across the Phalguni at Sulthan Bathery. Civil work consultancy would be provided by the National Institute of Technology – Surathkal.
The cost of the bridge had been estimated at Rs. 12 crore. Of the estimated cost, the Government had sanctioned Rs. 4 crore.
