Mangalore crash compensation: Air India moves HC
Agencies
New Delhi, 13 August 2011: The cash-strapped Air India (AI) does not want to pay compensation of Rs 75 lakh to victims of the 2010 Mangalore Air India crash. Air India on Friday appealed against the High Court order despite earlier assurances that there will be no delay in paying compensation.
Air India filed an appeal in the division bench of the Kerala High Court after a single bench of the same court ordered that victims of the crash should be compensated Rs 75 lakh each.
The judgement was in keeping with international norms for air crashes known as the Montreal Convention. But Air India said in its appeal that the judgement is inconsistent.

It is very bad and inconsistent attitude of the officials of Air India. They are not competent to manage Air India. The Government had publicly stated that they would not appeal. claim payment is the Insurers responsibility. If the Government is not competent to tackle the issue and make arrangements to pay as per the directions of the High court there is no value for the verdict and value for the loss of life. The Government must take stern action against the concerned insurers and also the agents as per law and settle the claims within the stipulated time.Else the Public will have to boycott the Air India flights in to to. | |

And why is their fare is inconsistent? That too looting in the name of budget! They are charging double the amount of DxB -B lore with laxury treatment! High time AI AIE is privatised and it will make profit from day 1. Or else, let the private airlines fly to Mangalore -Dubai so that passengers pay fair amount for the ticket and decent treatment!! If AI plug the holes, within few months they can pay 75 lacks each with the savings!! |
