Lokayukta will inaugurate stadium complex ‘Education and culture’ speech on April 9
Udupi: The valedictory of the golden jubilee celebrations of the Poornaprajna College will be held here on April 10.
Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, college principal Rajmohan said that as part of the golden jubilee celebrations, an indoor stadium complex would be inaugurated by Lokayukta N. Santosh Hegde.
The indoor stadium complex houses a badminton court, a table tennis court, gymnasium and other facilities.
In addition, the complex includes facilities for NSS and NCC. An archaeological museum is housed in the complex. Home Minister V.S. Acharya would release the Golden Jubilee souvenir.
Cultural programmes to mark the golden jubilee celebrations will be held on April 9 and April 10. Former senior research scholar at Oriental Research Institute, Mysore, H.V. Nagaraja Rao, will speak on the topic, “Education and culture”, on April 9.
Artiste Vinutha Acharya will give a solo dance drama performance, “Seelu Bidirina Sillu”, based on a short story by U.M. Acharya. This will be followed by a programme, “Remembering Adiga”, which would be a tribute to poet and former college principal late M. Gopalakrishna Adiga in the afternoon session.
A dance-drama, “Seetha Kalyana”, based on Tulu epic poem, “Mandara Ramayana”, will be held in the afternoon on April 10. This will be followed by a magic show by Junior Shankar. A Yakshagana, “Veera Abhimanyu”, will be held the same evening.
Late Vibudesha Tirtha Swamiji of Admar Math founded the Poornaprajna College in 1960. It is now one of the prominent educational institutions under the Admar Math Education Council (AMEC).
The AMEC has 27 educational institutions in different parts of the country. Writer late V.M. Inamdar was the first principal of the college, Prof. Rajmohan said.
Honorary secretary of AMEC G.S. Chandrashekhar, professors of the college Jagadish Shetty, Raghavendra and Srikant Rao were present.
