MANGALORE: The ongoing five-day Mega Bible Show at Milagres Junior College grounds, as part of celebrations of “Year of Convention of the Faithful” in the Diocese of Mangalore, is drawing the crowds.
The show, organised by the Catholic Christians of the Diocese of Mangalore, will end on Sunday (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.).
A miniature Bible — measuring about 2 inch x 1 inch — is the star attraction in a stall exhibiting different Bibles. A magnifying glass has been kept next to it to read it.
The stall also has on display the entire Gospel of St. John and the Gospel of Mathew printed in just one page. People were seen trying to read the gospels with a magnifying glass.
In different languages
The stall has Bibles in 43 languages, such as Korean, Arabic, Spanish, Greek and Mexican, in 250 versions. The side panels highlight how the Konkani version of the Bible was made possible by seven persons, including Father Raymond Mascarenhas to Fr. William Burbosa and Victor Pinto. There are also depictions of Noah’s Ark, the story of Job, miracles of Jesus, the journey of St. Paul and women in Bible. Biblical paintings by Wilson J.P. are also on display, among other things. There is also a painting of Mother Theresa.
