Dr Acharya assures govt support to Temple renovation work

Katapadi, 21 June 2011: Higher Education Minister Dr. V. S. Acharya assured complete support of the government to the renovation of Katapadi Vishwanatha Kshethra which is popular of being the second largest Billava Kshethra. He was speaking upon viewing the blue prints of the development work of the Kshethra furnished to him by the Kshethra management committee.

 

He said that the Billava’s have the leadership, unity, religious – social characters, which are role model to all other communities. It is an opportunity for the government to be part of the development and with the cooperation of the government and the public let the development work go on well, he said.

 

Koti Chennaya theme park which is getting constructed in Karkala has been granted rupees 1.75 crores by the government, for the completion work another 25 lakhs has been sanctioned. Also, appeals have been made for the special grants for the people’s representatives of the coastal area and  the Koti Chennaya theme park will get ready in the next four months and will be available for the public, said Dr. Acharya.

 

 

Chief Guest of the program Member of Parliament D. V. Sadananda Gowda spoke on the occasion and said that, in Udupi most of the responsible positions are in the hands of Billava’s. Government has been supporting Billavas and also the Billava community has been supporting the government. Therefore the government also will be providing more support for the cooperation and development of the Billava community, he said.

 

Shantha V. Acharya, MLC Kota Shrinivasa Poojary, Mysore Tobacco Company President B. N. Shankara Poojaty, Jilla Panchayath President Katapadi Shankara Poojary, were the chief guests of the program. Former Minister and Developement Committee President Vasantha V. Salyan said that Katapadi Vishwanatha Kshethra will be developed similar to Kudroli Gokarna Kshethra with the cost of rupees 3 crores and a proposal for the construction of a spacious air conditioned Samudaya Bhavana is in the consideration of the Samithi.

 

Katapadi Shree Vishwanatha Kshethra Management Committee President Ashok M. Suvarna welcomed the gathering. Vasantha V. Salyan gave introductory speech. Management committee member Naveen Amin Shankarapura proposed vote of thanks. Kshethra Management committee Cheif Secretary Harishchandra Ameen compeered the program.
