Moodubelle, 16 March 2011: It was barely few months ago in September 2010, Saby (Ronald Saby D’Souza) said “I am going to build a party spot here right on this hill” showing the place around on the top of the hill after he took me there in his four wheel drive. It was a high hill near his house in Kattingeri. The steep access road with sharp curves was just under construction and it was an adventurous drive to the top. Only a four wheel drive driven by a skilled person can succeed in reaching up there. Well, Saby drove it up with ease like a toy.

On hearing Saby’s plans I was paused for a while thinking how he is going to get the construction materials up here and how will he convince any Engineer or Contractor on this project. But I know Saby from child hood and I knew he will do it some how for sure. The place was beautiful and since it was high, it was a panoramic view all around. I then thought that it might take quite a long time for him to build something here.

When I visited him in end of December 2010, he told me “Victor, come on, I will show you the Hill Top now”. It was night and we went there in his new four wheel drive this time. The roads were neatly built with barricades and seeing the top of the hill I was stunned!! It was unbelievable!! The whole place has been transformed into a beautiful party spot with the floor landscaped with interlock tiles and lawn, without removing the trees so that they provide the shade, classical shaded sitting areas, hanging seats, traditional woven cots, a multi purpose stage at the centre with floor lamps, beautiful lawn, garden, sculptures, pathways, wash room, BBQ stand with roof and many more, everything that is required for a fantastic day or night party or picnic.

It is a calm place with lush green thick trees around and the brightly lit electric lamps and you could feel that you are on top of the world. I still could not believe how on earth he could complete it in just three months time while he is in Dubai, even though he made few frequent visits from Dubai. Then I learned from him that his close friend who is Civil Engineer and Contractor handled this project on top priority. Sabi says, he shared his thoughts and ideas with his friend and the friend got thrilled. Being a civil engineer and builder he said it is his challenge to set it right. He handles his own projects and never takes outside jobs, as an exception towards the friendship, he took the job and completed in three months and did it cost to cost without taking a rupee profit out of it. Moreover he gifted Saby with four antique poles to support both roofs.

Roads were made a year ago and tough task was to cut the rocks to create raw road for the crawling earth mover and to plan the path keeping future safety aspects in mind. Most of the material was transported by Crawl mounted movers and some long structures manually, some emergency material by 4WD. For the past twenty years nobody has been to this hill top due to the tough terrain, thick forest, thorny bushes and the fear of wild animals.

He invited me again to join him, his family and Bellevision friends on January 1st 2011 noon. It was a great time we all friends and families shared together on New Year’s Day in that fantastic atmosphere of very fresh, natural and the stunning beauty of the forest all around us. Saby’s Hill Top Party Spot brought us together for a relaxing day of fun, food and interesting conversing. Children too had a great time playing games and having fun. Later Saby’s parents too joined us and shared some joyous moments with us. Saby further says, if we create such soothing environment, family members and future generation would love to visit home and the native more often thus helps creating and developing stronger family and generation bonds, value and belief system.

Thanks to Saby who is always creative and likes to share the joy with others. This fantastic day will be remembered by us always.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Victor for a beautiful article on Hill Top. Though I was hesitant initially to publish this article, now I feel it is worthwhile looking at the appreciations for this piece of work. I thank all those who appreciated and expressed delight on this job. It certainly motivates me to go for further creativity and adventure. It is extremely satisfying to note that the landscaping has motivated many in our hometown and few are already seeking my advice for landscaping their home front and back yard. We already have several houses in our home town with beautiful landscaping and gardens. All it takes is imagination, hard work to put the ideas into practice, not to forget the need of couple of hours a week to maintain the same. With great love and gratitude for the support I received, sincerely - Ronald Sabi

Dear Saby, Accidentally learnt about your venture in Kattingeri Moodubelle, perhaps I should visit Bellevision more often from now. The entire earth is our mother and we must love her wholesomely. You have demonstrated your love to your mother beyond one s imagination and I can only wish your dream come true and may Almighty God bless Kattingeri so that its fallout may extend to her daughter Kanajar too. Beware of destructive critics, so called conservationists, short-term emotional players, religious hypocrites and subotageurs, who may not tolerate such visionary creativity and innovation, which can one day bring economic prosperity to the land. Wish you all the very best in your endeavors and wish to see one day Saby as the Father of Modern Moodubelle. Kind regards Lawrence Saldanha Kanajar

Believe me you have created a fabulous place for a perfect unwind on the highest point of Belle, congratulations..!!!, I had an opportunity to visit this place during my last holiday it was a pleasant surprise for me within such a shortest time you have created an “Oasis” on top of this hill. Very uniquely designed & executed party lounge with brilliant ideas bundled with nature, trees & a lush green landscape with a mind blowing panoramic view of the surroundings makes you feel great!. Apart from all this, getting on the top the hill with Sabyam’s 4WD on the steep road is real fun…..!!!. Well done Saby’am, don’t forget to let me know when you plan your next holiday..???

Sabi!!! tell me one thing, how on earth did you get those construction material up there? Amazing!! I think we should change the name of that whole area from Kattingeri to "Saby Park" like Cubbon Park in bangalore, "Kadri park" in Mangalore and have a bus-stand in the same name. Great creativity!!! Great Skills!!! and a Wonderful Man - "SABY" Hats off to you SABY!!

This is amazing. Saby told me several times that he is going to have a party place on the hilltop near his house but I never imagined it could be so beautiful and organised in a place like Kattingeri. Saby being an Engineer by profession and with his superb creative skills, is having all the abilities to make things wonderful. It is something unique in whole Moodubelle and Kattingeri area. Yes, as Dony wrote earlier, this calls for an party.
