The former President of Shirva Grama Panchayat, Bantakallu Harish Shetty (50) passed away in the night of Tuesday, 6th July 2010 following brief period of illness. He was the son of Panjimaru Peradimane late Sitharama Shetty.

There has been an increase in the missing complaints registered in various police stations of the Udupi District.  Recently two young girls, one from Perdoor and the other from Moodnidamboor were reported to have been missing.

Honey Raj (15) son of Narasimha Acharya and Vishalakshi of Kodangal-Marne went missing under mysterious circumstances on  13th May 2010 at around 4pm. According to the FIR registered by the mother of the missing boy, Vishalakshi, Honey Raj had gone to the Corporation Bank
