Former President of Shriva GP-Bantakallu Harish Shetty (50) passes away

Shirva, 8 July 2010: The former President of Shirva Grama Panchayat, Bantakallu Harish Shetty (50) passed away in the night of Tuesday, 6th July 2010 following brief period of illness.  He was the son of Panjimaru Peradimane late Sitharama Shetty.

Late Bantakallu Harish Shetty had been  an important Congress worker and leader in the Kaup Assembly constituency and was the member of the Shriva GP for 25 years. As the President he was active in social service. He was the proprietor of the Shakthi Bar in Bantakallu. Before his passing away, Bantakallu Harish Shetty was also the Director of the Shirva CA Bank. Being the Director of Vidyavardhaka Sangha, late Bantakallu Harish Shetty also had rendered service in education.

Right from his college days, Bantakallu Harish Shetty had manifested his leadership qualities. He was the Vice Pressident of All College Union. Later, he joined Congress and for 25 years he was actively involved in social work by being elected as the member of the Mandala and Grama Panchayats.

The funeral of late Bantakallu Harish Shetty was held on Wednesday, 7th July 2010. The body was brought from Bantakallu to Shirva in a solemn procession by his followers, friends and  Congress party workers. Vasant V. Salian, former minister,  Devi Prasad Shetty-president of Udupi District JDS, Kuthyaru Naveen Shetty-Kaup BJP President, Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde, Ravindra Shetty Kollabettu, Prasad Shetty Balebailu and many more paid their last respect to the departed leader.
