Heavy rain over Wednesday and Thursday caused severe disruptions in the Konkan. Traffic on stretches of the Konkan Railway, the Mumbai-Goa Highway and other arterial roads was blocked due to landslides. The Konkan Railway has cancelled seven trains and terminated a short-route train

Investigators have  recovered two out of the three parts of the Black Box from the wreckage of the ill-fated Air India Express that crashed at the Bajpe Airport on Saturday 22 May 2010  morning. Search is still on for the third critical part of the data box. 

It seems that worst is over as the dreaded Cyclone Laila  weakened ahead of landfall about 30 km from Bapatla in Guntur district on Thursday, 20 May 2010 afternoon. In spite of this the cyclone left 16 people dead

Several places in Andhra Pradesh began experiencing heavy rainfall  and strong winds in the wake of the severe cyclonic storm, named as Laila, that lay in the Bay of Bengal, about 180 km off the Chennai coast. 

In yet another daring attack, Moists (Naxalites)have blown up a civilian bus in Dantewada district around 4:30 on Monday, 17th May 2010  killing about forty persons including several security personnel and Special Police Officers (SPOs).
