New Delhi, 09 October 2010: BCCI president Shashank Manohar has called an emergency meeting of the IPL Governing Council in Mumbai on Sunday to decide on the fate of the three IPL franchises - Kings XI Punjab, Rajasthan Royals and Kochi, sources have told media.
Kochi has already missed its Friday deadline to submit papers clearing ownership issues and sources said the BCCI’s action could be as severe as scrapping the Kochi, Punjab and Rajasthan teams.
Show-cause notices have already been sent by the BCCI to Kochi, Rajasthan and Punjab teams for ownership row and other alleged irregularities.
The Kochi franchise was issued directives to form a company as a franchise can’t be in the name of individuals and no legal entity had been incorporated.
In fact, sources say the Kochi ownership row and hidden fronts in Rajasthan Royals are likely to be a cause for banning both the teams.
